Reid Announces Signing Of Pahrump Veterans Clinic

Date: Aug. 5, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Nevada Senator Harry Reid announced the Department of Veterans Affairs has signed the long-awaited contract with the Pahrump Veterans Clinic. The Request for Authorization to Relocate and Expand the Pahrump, Nevada CBOC was approved by Secretary McDonald on August 5th, 2014. This approval green-lights the lease of approximately 9,800 net usable square feet of clinic space. The size and scope of the clinic required sign off from the Secretary and previously led to a delay in the project. Groundbreaking and construction were expected last year but the contract and bidding was delayed. Reid and his staff have spoken with VA officials frequently about the project's status, including a meeting in June 2014 in Senator Reid's office with VA officials.

"I am glad the contract has been signed but it should not have taken this long to approve a clinic for Pahrump veterans," said Reid. "The nearly 6,000 veterans in Pahrump have earned the right to have access to the same VA healthcare as veterans living in Las Vegas do. I will continue to work to ensure the Pahrump clinic is completed and there are no further delays."
